ACWA Power is moving ahead with new solar and wind power developments in several countries. In its latest investor report for the first quarter of 2025, the Saudi-listed company shared that it is adding between 700 and 800 megawatts of renewable energy capacity in China this year. Part of that target includes a 233-megawatt deal signed with Sungrow Renewables to work on two solar power plants already under construction.
In the Gulf region, ACWA Power has taken steps toward another large project. It submitted a bid for the Al-Zour North cogeneration project in Kuwait. This facility is designed to deliver 2.7 gigawatts of electricity and process 540,000 cubic meters of water per day.
Inside Saudi Arabia, ACWA Power reported progress on upcoming renewable projects that form part of the country’s 2030 target to reach 130 gigawatts of clean energy. The Ministry of Energy is coordinating this long-term push, and ACWA Power is among the companies involved in the early planning and bids for the next set of utility-scale projects.
Several of the company’s earlier developments have started partial or full operation. These include a solar power project in Al Shuaiba, with a capacity of 2.1 gigawatts, and two wind farms in Uzbekistan, Bash and Dzhankeldy , each with a capacity of 500 megawatts. Another solar plant, located in Layla, Saudi Arabia, began generating power with a 91-megawatt capacity.
In North Africa, the Noor 3 concentrated solar power plant in Morocco resumed regular energy production in April. The plant had previously been offline due to technical work in 2024 but is now producing power again.
Beyond these higher-profile developments, ACWA Power continues work on smaller clean energy projects. These include solar trials in Jordan designed to supply remote areas and early-phase grid studies in Egypt focused on renewable integration, these efforts have appeared in past project filings and company documents.
