OPEC oil producer Iraq intends to award a new project for the construction of a solar power plant with a generation capacity of 700 megawatts, the country’s Electricity Minister Ziyad Ali Fadel was quoted as saying on Friday, as per media reports. Engie, French low-carbon energy firm has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to develop green hydrogen projects and its derivatives in Saudi Arabia. Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will soon be announcing a plan to assist Saudi Arabia and UAE in their green energy production during his visit to the Middle East next week. China’s PV firm Trina Solar will be supplying 150 MW module and tracker to Israeli PV developer Teralight. To this end, an agreement has been signed by both the firms. EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company), has revealed that it has received four proposals from ACWA Power, EDF Renewables, Marubeni Corporation, and a consortium consisting of Jinko Power and JERA, towards developing a 1,500 MW (AC), Al Ajban Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Independent Power Project (IPP). Iran has set sights on setting up solar solar parks in every province of the country. The timeline set for the goal is March 20, 2024.
