In its effort to enhance cooperation with its strategic partners and exchange best practices and experiences with major global companies DEWA’s (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) MD & CEO, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer met a high-level delegation from Siemens Energy.

The other officials present at the meeting were Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA,  Anne-Laure de Chammard, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy AG, and Dietmar Siersdorfer, Managing Director of Siemens Energy Middle East and UAE.

During the meeting, Al Tayer stressed on the vision of DEWA to develop long-term proactive plans to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and promote innovation to provide world-class services that enhance the quality of life in Dubai. He dwelled on DEWA’s strategic projects in renewable and clean energy to  support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of Dubai’s total power production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

He pointed out that  with its commitment to achieve net- zero by 2050, DEWA is implementing major projects to progress towards clean and renewable energy and water desalination projects in line with its vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation.

With this vision, DEWA attaches great importance to research and development in sustainability and renewable energy, especially photovoltaic and concentrated solar energy.

He highlighted one of the key projects– Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. It will have a production capacity of 5,000 megawatts by 2030.

“As a strategic partner to DEWA, we are proud of our accomplishments and collaborations over the years. Siemens Energy’s technologies contribute to over 42% of DEWA’s total generation capacity, ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for more than 3.5 million residents in Dubai. Together, we have developed the first and only operational, industrial-scale green hydrogen production facility in the Middle East and Africa. We look forward to growing this partnership in the future to expand the scope and scale of our innovative collaboration,” said Anne-Laure de Chammard,

He further informed that DEWA has a strategic partnership with Siemens Energy, for over 30 years. The partnership focuses especially in technological solutions for energy production, and other areas, including R&D in energy technologies, including energy production and energy storage, and smart grids.

In addition, DEWA also informed that with the aim to build national capacities in the energy sector, it has strategic partnerships with global companies and organisations in integrating renewable energy and distributed generation in the electricity grid, the Internet of Things (IoT), using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in energy production units, energy efficiency, cybersecurity, robotics, and smart buildings.
