Empower, known for running Dubai’s district cooling systems, says it will be one of the main sponsors at WETEX 2025. This event will happen from September 30 to October 2, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It is held under the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and with support from Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
WETEX brings together companies and experts who work on water, energy, and clean technology. Empower will use its stand at WETEX to show how its cooling systems work and what new ideas it is trying out to use less power.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO Empower says “taking part in WETEX fits with the UAE’s plans to lower carbon emissions by 2050”. He says, “district cooling saves energy by cooling many buildings at once instead of each one using its own system.”
Empower’s work is not only about big towers but also includes some other small projects. These include new pipes running cold water to hospitals, schools, and homes in older parts of Dubai. These smaller networks add up to about 40,000 refrigeration tons of cooling.
There are other ideas in the works too. One test project uses solar panels on top of cooling stations. The solar panels make electricity for the pumps that push cold water through the city. Another idea stores cold water at night when people use less electricity. This cold water is used in the daytime when air conditioners work hardest.
Outside Empower’s work, Dubai has other clean energy projects. The Sustainable City has rooftop solar that makes about 10 megawatts. Dubai Silicon Oasis has shaded car parks with solar panels that make around 2 megawatts for local use.
At WETEX 2025, Empower wants to show these projects to people visiting from other countries. It also plans to talk to companies that can help with smart meters and real-time energy checks.
