Broaden Energy is setting up a manufacturing site inside KEZAD Al Ma’mourah, a part of the Abu Dhabi‘s Khalifa Economic Zone. The plan comes after the company signed a long-term lease agreement during the recent Make it in the Emirates forum.
The site covers an area of 80,000 square metres. It will be used to produce systems that handle hydrogen, solar, and wind energy. The total investment for this facility is AED 455 million. According to Broaden Energy, the plant will create about 1,000 permanent jobs when operations begin.
This is the first such plant in the region that will focus on hydrogen production, refueling equipment, and storage units. The project is linked to a broader plan announced earlier by Broaden Energy in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.
At this facility, work will involve building equipment that supports cleaner power generation. Most of the systems will rely on renewable energy sources. The site is being positioned as a base for future supply across the UAE.
KEZAD officials say, “the project fits into the wider energy goals of the UAE. These include increasing the role of cleaner energy in powering industry and daily life.” The site will add to KEZAD’s list of renewable energy and technology projects.
Elsewhere in the UAE, other smaller energy initiatives are also underway. In Fujairah, a small pilot project is converting seawater into drinkable water using off-grid solar panels. It operates with a 50-kilowatt setup and serves nearby rural communities.
In the Western Region, a cooperative of local date farms is testing solar-powered cold storage units. Each unit runs on a 30-kilowatt solar array and can preserve up to 5 tonnes of produce.
