LONGi, POWERCHINA To Supply Modules For Oman Solar Project

LONGi has joined hands with Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) to supply high-efficiency solar modules for the North Oman Solar Project under Oman’s OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE). Together, the two parties aim to further promote Oman’s clean energy development.

The North Oman Solar Project, located in northern Oman with a capacity of 100 MW, is developed by OQAE, a subsidiary of Omani energy conglomerate OQ, in a joint venture with French energy giant TotalEnergies. Constructed by POWERCHINA, the project will provide green electricity to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) upon completion. It aligns closely with Oman’s renewable energy development vision and serves as a crucial component of the country’s energy structure transformation.

Oman has set clear and ambitious goals in its renewable energy cause. The nation’s “Vision 2040” emphasizes low-carbon economic transformation and environmental protection, with plans to increase the share of renewable energy in power supply to 30% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. To attain these objectives, the Omani government has taken proactive measures, including introducing tax incentives, land and infrastructure support, establishing green investment funds, and liberalizing land planning for renewable energy projects, all of which create a favourable environment for the implementation and advancement of such initiatives. Given Oman’s long-term reliance on fossil fuels, the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 150,000 tons annually after completion, significantly alleviating the environmental pressures posed by traditional energy and providing strong support for Oman’s net-zero emissions strategy.

As a world-leading comprehensive solar solutions provider, LONGi will leverage deep technical expertise and rich project experience in this collaboration to provide high-efficiency modules adapted to the local high-temperature and strong-dust climate conditions, ensuring the project’s long-term stable power generation. Meanwhile, LONGi will also fully utilize its advantages as an integrated solution provider to offer robust operation and maintenance support to clients.

The North Oman Solar Project marks another significant milestone in LONGi’s journey to promote global clean energy development. Over the years, LONGi has continuously achieved through technological innovation, providing high-efficiency and reliable solar and hydrogen solutions for clients.
