Wilo and Masdar have signed a cooperation agreement in Dubai. The agreement was formalized during a visit by Hendrik Wüst, Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The event took place at Wilo’s main production site in Dubai.
Wilo is a technology company with operations in water systems and energy solutions. Masdar is a clean energy company from the UAE. The agreement focuses on renewable energy and efficiency technologies. Both companies plan to expand their work in the Middle East and possibly in other markets.
Masdar will contribute clean energy knowledge, including renewable energy project development. Wilo will support the partnership through its systems for heating and cooling, as well as energy-saving water solutions. The companies plan to collaborate on projects that reduce energy use and increase access to clean electricity.
The Dubai facility operated by Wilo has been expanded. The plant is part of the company’s broader manufacturing and distribution network. It is positioned to serve markets across the AMEA region — Africa, Middle East, and Asia.
This new agreement follows other recent projects in the UAE by Masdar. For example, Masdar supported a solar rooftop project on a logistics warehouse in Jebel Ali Free Zone. That project had a 1.2-megawatt peak capacity and was developed in partnership with a local logistics firm. It now supplies power directly to the warehouse, helping reduce diesel generator use.
In another initiative, Masdar partnered with a retail chain to install solar panels at five stores in Dubai. The total installed capacity was 0.85 MW. These projects are not part of large utility-scale developments but serve local energy needs. They have reduced reliance on grid power in commercial areas.
Masdar is also developing a pilot battery storage system in Abu Dhabi for peak load management, with 5 MW/20 MWh installed capacity. This project aims to support small businesses with energy during high-demand periods.
