Three Emirati cousins from Dubai, Ali Makki, Ali Hassoun, and Mohammed Hassoun, have embarked on a mission to shape a sustainable future through their newly founded venture, Kilimanjaro Energy Group. Ali Makki, 29 years old and a graduate of energy engineering from Pennsylvania State University, leads the group. Hailing from a lineage of pearl traders spanning UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain, Ali Makki’s family evolved from humble beginnings to become influential in sectors like banking, real estate, and hospitality.

“We’ve known each other for a long time and realized we had a shared vision and goal coupled with an unshakeable trust and reliability necessary in any venture,” commented Mohammed Hassoun, Managing Partner of Kilimanjaro Energy Group. The cousins united their complementary skills to establish Kilimanjaro Energy Group, focusing on renewable energy projects across Africa and the Middle East.

Recently, on June 20th, Kilimanjaro Energy Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Skyworth Group, a Chinese enterprise known for its expertise in digitalization and photovoltaic technology. Witnessed by Dubai Chambers and the People’s Government of Guangming District, Shenzhen, the agreement aims to collaborate on new energy projects in the Middle East and Africa.

Ali Makki expressed his passion for entrepreneurship and his belief in the transformative power of transitioning from traditional to new energy sources in the Middle East. “At Kilimanjaro Energy, we don’t just envision change. We make it happen,” he emphasized.

Reflecting on his return to Dubai after completing his education in the West, Ali Makki highlighted the UAE’s conducive business environment and its emphasis on gender equality in entrepreneurship. “The UAE sets a global precedent in empowering women entrepreneurs,” he remarked, advocating for synergies between men and women entrepreneurs to unlock limitless possibilities.

Ali Hassoun, the youngest among the cousins at 27, shared nostalgic memories of their childhood bonding experiences, which strengthened their familial ties and laid the foundation for their business partnership.

Kilimanjaro Energy Group’s collaboration with Skyworth Group signifies a significant step towards advancing green energy initiatives in the region. With their combined expertise and shared commitment to sustainability, Ali Makki, Ali Hassoun, and Mohammed Hassoun are poised to make a lasting impact on the renewable energy landscape in Africa and the Middle East.
