Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) recently signed a Partnership Agreement with Synergy Investment to establish Electrical Vehicles One (EVO).

With the aim towards contributing towards Oman’s net zero target by 2050, EVO will be developing Oman’s electric vehicles (EV) infrastructure and supporting the overall green mobility initiatives. By establishing EVO, OOMCO aims to support the Ministry’s Green Mobility Plan  by providing various eco-friendly, sustainable, and green mobility solutions to support sustainable mobility in Oman.

The agreement was signed during recently held Green Mobility Forum organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology.

Tarik Al Junaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Oil Marketing Company, said, “The world is shifting towards sustainable and eco-friendly solutions, and the automotive industry is no exception. By developing the necessary infrastructure across Oman, we are accelerating the adoption of electrical vehicles in the country, hence contributing to the national efforts of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 through providing various green mobility solutions. A country as large as Oman requires a robust and reliable charging network that spans across thousands of kilometers, this is a major challenge that we are well equipped to overcome.”

“The new company is the first Omani company specialising in providing tailored EV charging solutions and services to support the transition to EVs. EVO will own and operate the largest network of interconnected EV chargers across Oman starting with 78 chargers (16 DC, 60 AC) and expanding to over 200 chargers across service stations, hotels, Integrated Tourism Complexes, malls, borders and various other strategic locations by 2024. Through the establishment of EVO, OOMCO aims to enable Oman’s orderly transition towards sustainable mobility which includes EVs.,” informed the firm.

Ziad El Helou, Chief Executive Officer of Synergy Investment added, “EVO will play a vital role in enabling the mass adoption of Electric Vehicles in Oman by providing cutting-edge electric charging solutions tailored specifically for the Omani market. Our partnership with OOMCO will allow us to combine our expertise in energy solutions with the technological advancements in electric vehicle charging systems. Together, we will create a seamless and convenient charging experience for our end users across the largest charging network in the Sultanate, this will in turn result in a seamless transition for consumers from Internal Combustion Engine vehicles to Electric Vehicles contributing significantly towards Oman’s Net Zero targets.”

This initiative coincides with  OOMCO’s aim to lead innovations in the fuel marketing sector and its commitment to contribute to a greener future for Oman and its customers.

It may be noted that in 2020, the company rolled out the first of now several green service stations in Oman. The innovative green service stations feature a range of unique eco-friendly features including solar panels, LED lights, a Vapor Recovery System (VRS) and an EV charger.
