Grandweld Shipyards, a shipbuilder in the UAE has joined hands with Japanese solar firm, Nippon to build a solar plant that will produce 880 MWh of clean energy per year. The project aims to deliver 26.4 GWh of clean energy over the lifespan of the project and to reduce 14,111 metric tons of carbon emissions. Adu Dhabi based clean energy firm Masdar has partnered with UAE’s Taqa, French firm EDF Renewables, and JinkoPower from China to unveil the 2 GW Al Dhafra Solar project. Syria has introduced a project in Al-Bab, northern Aleppo, setting sights on setting up a solar energy system for water pumping stations. The system comes with 2,547 solar panels and will account for the largest capacity of energy generation in the northern part of Syria. A firm that delves into the manufacture of carpets and rugs, Oriental Weavers, has joined hands with solar energy solutions supplier, Amarenco Solarize. Under the agreement, Oriental Weavers will employ solar  energy to power one of its factories in the Tenth of Ramadan area.
