APM Terminals Bahrain managed Khalifa Bin Salman Port has announced the initiation of a revolutionary solar power project, with Mumbai-based solar power firm Bhageria Industries joining as a key partner following a rigorous public tender process.

The project is valued at approximately BHD 3.8 million (USD 10 Million), this ambitious project is set to make Khalifa Bin Salman Port the first seaport in the region to be fully powered by solar energy. Under the comprehensive contract with APM Terminals Bahrain, Bhageria Industries will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from design and engineering to supply, construction, testing, and commissioning. Additionally, they have committed to a ten-year operation and maintenance period to ensure the sustained efficiency and performance of the solar power system.

The signing ceremony commemorated the onboarding of Bhageria Industries in the renewable energy sector. Their expertise and track record are expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of this transformative initiative.

In other news, Bahrain’s EWA has launched a tender for the construction of a utility-scale PV plant with a capacity of up to 100 MW. The deadline to submit project proposals is April 3. The project will be located in the Al Dur area, in the country’s Southern Governorate. It is to be developed on a turnkey basis, with a project implementation time frame of 18 months from the date of the awarding of the tender.
