Nhoa Energy, a subsidiary of Nhoa SA, formerly known as Engie EPS, has recently activated a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a staggering capacity of over 120 megawatt-hours (MWh) in Yilan County, Taiwan. This project, executed for the Taiwan Cement Group (TCC Group) within the SuAo plant premises, adds another significant achievement to Nhoa Energy’s portfolio. Notably, it closely follows the completion of a substantial 311-MWh battery installation for TCC Group by the end of 2023.
Within Asia alone, the company has already brought online 550 MWh of such systems, signaling its firm commitment to advancing clean energy initiatives in the region.
Lucie Kanius-Dujardin, Nhoa Energy’s Executive Vice President of Global Markets, underscored the pivotal role played by these projects in supporting Asia’s shift towards cleaner energy sources and reducing dependency on fossil fuels. As nations across the region channel substantial investments into renewable energy infrastructure to meet ambitious climate targets, the deployment of innovative energy storage solutions assumes heightened importance. Nhoa Energy stands at the forefront of this transformation, offering scalable and adaptable BESS technologies that serve as linchpins in the transition to a sustainable energy future.
The activation of the 120-MWh BESS in Taiwan not only underscores Nhoa Energy’s technical prowess but also represents a significant stride towards enhancing grid stability and resilience. By efficiently storing surplus renewable energy generated during peak production periods, such systems facilitate its seamless integration into the grid during periods of high demand or low generation. This not only optimizes the utilization of renewable resources but also mitigates the intermittency challenges associated with solar and wind power, thereby fostering a more reliable and resilient energy infrastructure.
Furthermore, Nhoa Energy’s endeavors resonate with broader global efforts to accelerate the deployment of energy storage technologies as integral components of the clean energy transition. As nations worldwide pivot towards decarbonization, the role of BESS in enabling the widespread adoption of renewable energy sources assumes paramount importance. Nhoa Energy’s steadfast commitment to innovation and sustainability positions it as a key enabler in shaping the future of energy.
