Solar manufacturing major Trina Solar’s patented 210mm type-n i-TOPCon module has reached a maximum power output of 740.6W, setting a new world record and being certified by TÜV SÜD, according to its State Key Photovoltaic Science and Technology (PV) Laboratory in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. This is the 26th time that Trina Solar has set a world record for power output and conversion efficiency in PV modules, demonstrating its leadership in the PV sector.

“Every breakthrough is the result of our relentless pursuit of technological innovation and excellence,” said Gao Jifan, president and CEO of Trina Solar and director of the State Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology (PV). “This sustained leadership in i-TOPCon technology reinforces competitiveness and momentum to spearhead the era of the 700W+ and advanced 210mm n-type technology platform.”

The latest achievement involved the integration of advanced processes including i-TOPCon, laser-induced firing, edge passivation, high-strength dense lattices, and high-density potting technology for low-resistance connections. These innovations have significantly improved cell passivation, maximized optical utilization, and minimized electrical losses, resulting in a substantial increase in the power and efficiency of solar modules.

Trina Solar has been an early proponent of i-TOPCon technology. It set the first world record in 2015 for large-area industrial n-type i-TOPCon cells and took the lead in 2018 in promoting TOPCon cell technology from the lab to industrialization. Last August, Trina Solar announced the mass production of Vertex N 700 W+ series modules, making it the first module manufacturer to produce large-scale TOPCon modules with power greater than 700 W. The company has upgraded its i-TOPCon technology, and its 210mm n-type modules reached 720.53W of output power, the highest in large-scale manufacturing TOPCon modules. High-efficiency and high-power N-type modules are widely recognized in the market and are used in power plants and industrial and commercial power plants.

The company holds more than 100 patents in the field of TOPCon technology.
